Arise Internships provide a unique opportunity to learn, serve and grow in a dynamic Christian environment over a 12 month period.

It is designed for young adults, whether you be a recent school leaver or someone who is looking to discern your calling in life.

Arise focuses on building a faith foundation where character is built, identity in Christ is revealed, and questions of faith explored, while living and serving in a Christian community.

Interns experience practical aspects of ministry by working, living and learning alongside others in a camp setting.

Throughout the year we intentionally seek to build a faith foundation that will grow the Interns’ Christian faith and character. We grow valuable life skills and ministry experience that will benefit the individual and the communities they are involved with after Warrambui.

To achieve this goal, we have three core elements that help grow the Interns:

• Volunteer service tasks to Warrambui (e.g. Kitchen work, Cleaning, School Programs)
• Biblical and Theological Study
• Personal growth and Leadership Development through involvement in youth camps, youth groups, congregational visits, and team times.

Being part of a Christian community doesn’t mean things are always rosy, but we continue to praise and thank God for the tough times to grow and work through the differences in people’s behaviours and attitudes.

About the authour
Greg Koenig is a preacher’s kid, educator and writer who has dedicated a lot of his adult life to understanding and interpreting faith and the Christian experience from the perspective of someone unacquainted with churchspeak (often also called Christianese).
“The phrase image of God in this book is a good example,” says Greg. “Many of us insiders love to use the term imago Dei, which is the Latin equivalent of the Hebrew b'tzelem Elohim—image, or shadow, or likeness of God. There is an elegance and a mystique to the phrase imago Dei, but the elegance and mystique are not particularly helpful to someone
who is just learning to respond to the message ofthe Bible. That simple message from God needs to strike a chord and then resonate; the language we use must allow it to do that.”

Greg is the servant-leader of the Lutheran Campus Mission Association (GoLCMA.org), an organization dedicated to equipping leaders to reach out with the Gospel in college/university communities. He and his wife Deb live in St. Louis, Missouri; they have four children and (at last count) four grandchildren. 

Research paper: Young Adult Ministry Evaluation 2014

The Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District undertook a research project in 2014 that assessed current young adult engagement in the church, identified the drivers of effective youth adult ministry practice and assessed current Youth Adult Ministry capacity.
Part of the research explored:

• The reasons why young adults have remained involved in the church
• The reasons why young adults have not remained involved in the church
• The key drivers of effective young adult ministry

Adult Education courses: Animate Faith and Animate Bible

The Animate adult course imaginatively explores central topics of Christianity.

Animate Faith
In each Animate: Faith session, the group:

• watches a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, 
• spends time on personal reflection and journaling, 
• shares ideas with the group. 

Each session delves into a faith topic: 

• God, 
• religion, 
• Jesus, 
• salvation, 
• the cross, 
• the Bible, 
• the church.

Animate Bible

In each Animate: Bible session, the group will watch a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, spend time on personal reflection and journaling, and share ideas with the group. The order of the session is up to you and what works best for your group. Session resources are available as a complete curriculum or a la carte.
